MINNESOTA PERMIT TO CARRY

COURSE LENGTH: 6 HRS Approximately (Classroom / Range) 

Thank you for taking the time to look at ALPHA TRAINING & TACTICS LLC for your PERMIT TO CARRY CERTIFICATION.  You will be required to take a total of 6 hours of training to complete this course and become eligible to receive your Minnesota Permit to Carry under Minnesota State Statute 624.714, which is currently good in 25 States.  We cover all required areas of instruction in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.   With a lifetime background in Use Of Force issues, I am able to bring you a "real worlds" view to this program.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Handgun 22 Caliber to 45 ACP (NO SINGLE ACTION OR TARGET PISTOLS)

  • 50 Rounds of Ammunition for your Handgun

  • Holster that you plan on using for carry (*not required, but strongly recommended.)

  • Semi-auto handguns--extra magazines will make course of fire easier--not required, but encouraged to have extra magazines for firearm.

*All Weapons must be CASED and UNLOADED when arriving at class.

BASIC HANDGUN COURSE (LEVEL I)

COURSE LENGTH: 6 HRS (Classroom / Range) 

This course is designed for the person that has minimal or no handgun experience. The focus of this training will be to give the first time handgunner a better understanding and confidences in their skills to operate and handle a weapon. Even an experienced handgun owner/operator will find this session educational and worth the time spent. 

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Handgun & 2 Magazines

  • 100 Rounds of Ammunition for your Handgun

  • Hearing and Eye Protection will be Provided. (If student prefers to use their own safety equipment - it will need to be inspected prior to live fire drills)

  • If you do not own a handgun, please contact me and we can discuss your options.

*All Weapons must be CASED and UNLOADED when arriving at class. 

During this session, students will be given instruction in operation and function of the revolver and the semi-auto handgun - ranging from 22 caliber to 45ACP. The student will understand how to secure and render a weapon safe, unload and load a magazine or cylinder. Work proper shooting stance and shooting positions. We will discuss selecting a holster for specific shooting requirements and needs. We will also review home safety and security of the weapon, along with the basic rules of safe handling a weapon. In addition, students will go through Minnesota State Statutes that pertain to weapons and use of force.  

We will move into the range and the student will work on applying the skills we discussed in the earlier session. The student will leave this program with a better understanding of their skills and enhanced abilities in handling firearm. 

*CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED to make sure each participant is given personal attention to assist them with handling and operating their weapon.

ADVANCE HANDGUN COURSE (LEVEL II)

COURSE LENGTH: 6 HRS (Classroom / Range) 

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS CLASS (One of the following):

  • Certificate of Attendance in a previous Basic Handgun Course

  • Current Permit to Carry Certification

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Handgun & 2 Magazines

  • Belt Style Holster (secures weapon, indicates easily for re-holstering)

  • Belt Style Magazine Pouch (to hold spare magazine)

  • Belt to Secure Holster and Magazine Pouch

  • 250 Rounds of Ammunition for Course

  • Jacket or Sweatshirt (to cover weapon, for cover-up/conceal exercise)

  • Hearing and Eye Protection will be Provided

  • Re-Loading Drills

  • Movement Exercises

  • Barricade / Cover Exercises

TACTICAL HANDGUN APPLICATION AND HOME DEFENSE (LEVEL III)

COURSE LENGTH: 6 HRS (Classroom / Range) 

Do you believe you have built your handgun foundation properly? Do you want to challenge yourself? Step into this session and let's get to work! Multiple targets, multiple threats, low light conditions, limited and confined engagement areas - all of these and more will challenge and enhance your skills. We will also cover home and neighborhood awareness, home and family security, defensive reactions, as well as setting up personal home safety for the family. This class is geared for today's environment. 

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS CLASS (One of the following):

  • Completion of Basic and/or Advance Handgun Course

  • Prior Approval Based on Demonstrated Competence

CIVILIAN AR ESSENTIALS COURSE

COURSE LENGTH: 5 HRS (Classroom / Range) 

Do you want to get more time with your AR platform rifle? Then - this class is designed for you! This five hour course is designed to introduce you to the proper methods of handling, operating and maintaining your AR platform rifle.

This course will take you from getting the correct zero on your weapon to running multiple threat targets. You will work around, under and through barricades. You will finish the session off with understanding the application of  your AR in close quarter reaction to threats. 

Course can be conducted indoors with 22 caliber AR or conversion; outdoors 5.56/223 caliber platform will be acceptable.

WOMEN'S BASIC HANDGUN FAMILIARIZATION AND DEVELOPMENT 

COURSE LENGTH: 5 HRS (Classroom / Range) 

This course is designed for the female with minimal or no handgun experience. It is also an excellent review of handgun basics for the novice shooter. The focus of this training will be giving the student a better understanding and ability in the operation and functioning of the handgun. Even the experienced handgun owner/operator would find this session educational and worth the time spent at it. 

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

  • Alpha Training will provide the handguns and ammunition for this event. If you would like to use your handgun during the event, you will need to bring the following:

  • Handgun 22 Caliber to 45 ACP

  • 50 Rounds of Ammunition for your Handgun

  • Hearing and Eye Protection will be Provided. (If student prefers to use their own safety equipment - it will need to be inspected prior to live fire drills)

  • You will be able to handle and fire multi-caliber handguns that are provided by Alpha during this session.

*All Weapons must be CASED and UNLOADED when arriving at class. 

During the first half of this session, the student will be given instruction in the operation and functioning of both the revolver and semi-auto handgun. The student will understand how to secure and render a weapon safe, unload and load a magazine or cylinder. Work on proper stance and shooting positions. We will review selecting a holster for specific shooting requirements and needs. The student will also go over the proper cleaning procedures for their specific weapon. 

We will discuss home safety and security of the weapon. We will review and discuss the basic safety rules of safe gun handling. We will also review Minnesota State Statutes that pertain to private weapon ownership. 

On the range, the student will focus on the fundamentals of weapon functionality and safe handling practices. We will continue with developing basic handgun skills and move into live fire drills that build on foundation that we have established earlier in the session. 

*CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED to make sure each participant is given personal attention to assist them in the development of their skills.
